Base 2 Space

Climb the tower’s 832 stairs in support of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
For just the fourth time in the Space Needle’s 55-year history, the public will have the chance to climb the landmark’s 832 “open-air” stairs. It’s all for Base 2 Space: Seattle’s Most Iconic Climb and the Space Needle Foundation’s leading fundraising event benefiting Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. With more than 3,000 climbers expected to participate in 2018, participants enjoy thrilling views of the Pacific Northwest while raising funds for life-saving cancer research. Fred Hutch receives 100% of all donations raised during the event.

The fourth annual Base 2 Space stair climb will be on Sunday, Sept. 30 with registration opening Saturday, April 21, 2018. Visit for more information.

Round-up at the Needle

Make your pennies go further!
Round-up at the Needle is the Space Needle Foundation’s signature fundraising program. Guests who visit the Space Needle’s retail store, SpaceBase, have the opportunity to round-up their purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to the foundation’s featured charity partner. Thanks to our generous guests and passionate retail Team Members, the Space Needle Foundation donated $43,000 to Seattle Children’s Hospital. Round-up at the Needle supported the hospital’s Uncompensated Care Program, which aims to provide patients access to medical care—regardless of their family’s insurance or ability to pay.
